Naked

I love to see the city naked
Rid of all the people
I hope tonight that she will make it
I just can’t wait to meet her
Those streets lined with garbage and fallen leaves
And signs of life that never seems to cease
This is her bare beauty
It’s who she is

I love to see the city naked
When she is dark and lonely
When she’s asleep and she can’t fake it
She’s my one and only
Those cracks in the sidewalk and distant breeze
Her heart is beating slowly, she’s at ease
This is her bare beauty
It’s who she is

I love to see the city wake up
Stirring under covers
I love to watch her put on makeup
Say good-bye to lovers
Sip first cups of coffee and morning air
Looking in the mirror, combing hair
Stepping in the shower
And she is fair
